Francis Harold + The Holograms VS Buddyhead: Taste the Chain

In my opinion, Francis Harold and the Holograms are probably one of the most interesting bands active right now, that aren’t the Melvins, and that Buddyhead gives a shit about (others would be NASA Space Universe, and Nu Sensae, if Buddyhead cared). Scruff McGruff, Death, an executioner, and a guy with a sack on his head, that’s what is immediately noticeable. Noise, chains, broken glass, and more insanity, are pretty much the direct follow up. An Audio, Physical, and Visual assault, that’s a triple threat, its like the baconator but better, and wayyy worse for you. Anyway if you couldn’t get their amazing Debut, which made it on Buddyhead’s Best and Worst List of 2009, it’s being reissued, on Agitated Records on CD with the Mirror of Fear single added, without further adon’ts, here’s the interview…

Who are you?
I am Francis Harold. Undeniable king of punk and champion of many.

Is there a reason why people should care about FH+H?
There are numerous reasons why people should care about FH+H. Number one, we are the best band in the world as we speak. Number two, everything we touch turns to gold. Number three, when the world ends, we will be the only humans standing still. Number four, our amps are better than yours.

For better or worse I’ve heard people describe you as “Flipknot Bastards”, and on goner records someone wrote “Not as good as the mentors, sounds like a bad cover band trying to get to metal blade records” or something how would you actually describe your sound?
I don’t even know what flipknot bastards means, but i don’t like it. Mentors aren’t even good in the first place so that is an insult. Best gimmick/worst band. If we were to put a label on how we sound I would say, it sounds like hellfire coming from deep within a cave where the only life that is present are half goat half bat creatures.

FH+H, are now pretty well known for lots of the stories going around, has that ever proved to be awesome, or completely terrible? What are some of the better ones for those who don’t know?
I would like to know all these stories as well. No one tells us anything. The only good one I’ve heard is that we stick microphones up our asses and shit on stage. BEST story I’ve heard so far. We break a lot of microphones and are too loud for some people. Pussy City USA.

When I saw you guy’s play there was just a ring of people crossing their arms and awkwardness, a lot more than a usual show, is it smart that they’re doing that?
I don’t think it was awkwardness. They are all scared. A bunch of babies. Its probably NOT smart if people do that. If they are doing that they are more likely to get an elbow to the face or choked out. Bring the pain, I swear I will tear you apart.

FH&TH are from Hate City USA, is there anything else that influences you guys
Pure utter depression and hate.

When people see you what should they expect to see and happen?
They should expect to be amazed. They should expect to see the best band in the world play their worst set. They should expect to get hit with something.

In all the shows you have played what have been the best/worst
Best show ever was at Urban Outfitters in ATLANTA. Worst show was in Canada. Borrowed some gear that sucked. One 10″ speaker for bass. Stupid.

Are other bands usually able to keep up with FH&TH?
Not at all. We destroy all bands we play with. Sonically, mentally and physically.

Is there any band you have played with/wanted to play with, worth mentioning?
NASA Space Universe, On Parade, Pollution, and FH+H.

If punk is dead would you say that you are it’s horribly amazing reanimated corpses?
No. We are Punk.

Do you have a favorite record or EP so far for 2010?
White Boss LP from Seattle, WALLS tour 7″ from Seattle, and everything we do.

Are there any bands that you think people at Buddyhead should start to care about?
White boss, Walls, On Parade, Pollution.

And lastly is there anything you would like to say?
Bring the Pain.
